Plant City boxer Chevelle Hallback has won a world welterweight title at the age of 52.
Backed by Roy Jones and the whole of Tampa, Hallback carved out a fine points win over Argentina’s Yamila Reynoso. The contest was at times a thunderous and technical fight, sometimes fought at close quarters.
Hallback has age defying movement and reflexes and these were needed against a 27 year old opponent who mixed decent right hands and body shots in close but fell short at distance and was susceptible to Hallback’s unorthodox left hooks. In round 5 Hallback went down from a headbutt but recovered in style.
